2 Thessalonians 2

1Now, regarding the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brethren, 2That you not be quickly shaken in mind, or alarmed, either by spirit, or by word, or by letter purporting to be from us, saying that the day of Christ is at hand. 3Let no man deceive you in any way: for that day shall not come, until there is first a falling away, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of perdition; 4Who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he sits as God in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God. 5Do you not remember, that when I was yet with you, I told you these things? 6And you know what restrains him now, that he might be revealed in his time. 7For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work: only he who now restrains it will do so, until he is taken out of the way. 8And then shall the lawless one be revealed, whom the Lord shall slay with the breath of his mouth, and shall destroy by the brightness of his coming. 9The coming of the lawless one is through the working of Satan, with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10And with all wicked deception for those who perish; because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11And for this reason God shall send them a strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12That all those might be condemned who did not believe the truth, but took pleasure in unrighteousness. 13But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God has from the beginning chosen you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth: 14To this he called you through our gospel, to obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold to the traditions which you have been taught by us, whether by word, or by letter. 16Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who has loved us, and has given us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, 17Comfort your hearts, and establish you in every good work and word.
